Description

A 74-year-old man was admitted to our hospital because of oliguria. A sigmoid colon tumor was detected on abdominal US, and CT showed a tumor with ring enhancement in the liver. On MRI the tumor was enhanced during the hepatic arterial phase, and was washed out during the hepatobiliary phase. Sigmoid colectomy and partial hepatectomy (S5b) were conducted for sigmoid colon cancer and suspected liver metastasis. Histopathological examination of the liver tumor revealed it to be a hepatic sclerosed hemangioma, with abundant elastic fibers and poor proliferation of blood vessels of atypical in the nodule. Hepatic sclerosed hemangioma is a relatively rare disease, but it should be considered in the differential diagnosis of ischemic liver tumor.
