Description

Using five cultivars and three selections, the fruit quality (size and internal contents) of rabbiteye blueberries was investigated through the harvesting period. The results are summarized as follows. 1) In all cultivars and selections, the size of the fruit picked in the beginning of the harvesting period was larger than those picked in the end. 2) The total soluble solids content of 'Bluebelle', 'Homebell', 'Tifblue', T-100 and T-142 in the end of the harvesting period was significantly higher than those in early harvesting. In other cultivars and selections, the total soluble solids content slightly changed during the harvesting period. In all cultivars and selections, titratable acidity and anthocyanin content changed little during the harvesting period. Also, the anthocyanin composition differed from each other. 3) The fruit quality (size and total soluble solids content) of T-100 and T-142 was superior than those in other cultivars and selections. Therefore, these selections seem to be suited for high quality rabbiteye blueberry fruit production.
