Description
We analyzed how the distribution patterns of the haunted spots in Toyama have changed during the last 100 years. The targets consisted of either (1) the newspaper series published in 1914 or the information in ghost portal sites gathered in 2018. The 106 sites were respectively georeferenced and their relative distribution tendencies were visualized by dual kernel density estimation (search radius 10 km, cell size 300 m). The most noticeable difference was the withdrawal of haunted spots from urban areas. Text analyses also revealed that the diversity and degree of the interaction with supernatural beings were diminished in 2018 materials.
