Description

Design thinking is widely used as a model for practicing understanding problems and the enacting solutions. Such a model is like a map, with the route to an appropriate solution written on it to prevent the design practitioner from getting lost. The perspective of the design practitioner is focused on following the route to a result, and is not to get lost in the unknown phenomena that emerge from the world of the object of design.
In this research, through a case study of a local wrapping paper design project in the Namioka district of Aomori Prefecture, we developed design activities to explore Namioka district without planning or considering the design method in advance. This article examines the influence of this series of activities on the practitioners’ beliefs and attitudes toward the design process.
