Description

I investigated the relationship between the impression and design elements that the user receives from the default profile icon of the SNS application quantitatively. Almost existing default profile icons use gender-neutral or masculine motif. I focused on how X-gender who cannot apply their gender identity to both men and women feel about icons which represent particular gender. I conducted a questionnaire survey. The relationship between the attitude and impression for icons was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Then, the relationship between the impression and design elements for icons was analyzed using rough set. Based on that, I designed attractive icons for X-gender and those not so.
