Description

A micro check valve is one of the important components for microfluidic devices such as micro pumps. In this research, a micro check valve imitating venous valves in a living body (Venous valve-like check valve: V2CV) was developed and the flow rate-pressure experiment was conducted. The experimental result showed zero flow rate was measured at 80 kPa for reverse direction while 122 μL·min−1 was measured for forward one, which is much enough to applicate to microfluidics. Furthermore, possibility to control flow rate for forward direction was suggested by changing thickness of the valve structure. However, some problems have still remained toward actual application, including the pressure drop by the valve structure itself and separation of the bonded surface between the PDMS valve structure and the slide glass.
