Description

The circulations in the depth range of 2-5m below the sea surface in Ise Bay are examined by the mean current components of observed current data. From May to September, when the seasonal thermocline is maintained, two clockwise circulations are found at the innermost and at the central part of Ise Bay, and an anti-clockwise circulation is found near the bay mouth. On the other hand, from October to April, circulations do not appear clearly and the mean current components of observed current data in Ise Bay are characterized by the strong southward currents along Chita Peninsula, whose magnitudes are equivalent to the amplitude of spring tidal currents.
