Description

Typhoon 8712, which moved northeastward with the air pressure and speed of 940mb and 35-40km/hour at the point of 70km westward from Fukue City on 30 August, 1987, gave a serious damage of 980 billion yen to the fishing facilities and another facilities in Nagasaki Prefecture. The estimated wave height and period due to Typhoon 8712 are 14.4m and 14.4sec, respectively, at Miesaki Point. The damage of fishing facilities was concentrated along the eastern coast of Iki, Tsushima and Goto island, and the western coast of Nishisonogi and Shimabara peninsula in Nagasaki Prefecture and that at New-Nagasaki Harbor was the largest.
