Description

Abstract This study was intended to evaluate quality of honey from Echium candicansEchium candicans honey) harvested in 2013 by scanning electron microscope imageanalysis using ionic liquid as a electroconducting reagent. At least no less than 21 kinds of pollens were identified in the honey. The rate of pollens from Echium candicans was less than 50 % because plants as honey source are not always correspond with those as pollen source for hive honeybee (Apis melifera). Therefore, the purification of honey as a monofloral honey cannot be determined. The number of pollens from Echium candicans in the honey from Echium candicans is 2.9 % of that from Echium vulgare, whose honey was reported to contain hazardous pyrrolizidine alkaloids. The results indicated that the health risk of honey from Echium candicans was low, considered from the number of pollens.
