Abstract
<p>Abstract The purpose of this report is to clarify two points. The first, “side job” was encouraged in the home in the city has changed how to? The second, that was a side job of women, sideline reveals that side job of handworks is particularly encouraged. Research methods are described next. Analysis with books published in the survey report Tokyo city. Finance Ministry foreign trade generally refer the Meiji era. I found three. The first one was seamstress, embroidery, knitting was encouraged as a side job more than middle-class housewives. The second one were encouraged as a womenʼs profession, side job.
