- Modeling of Belt Friction for Simulation of Belt Slip with Stick-slip Phenomenon

<p>In this investigation, a numerical procedure that accounts for stick-slip phenomenon for analysis of belt slip is developed. The mechanism of the belt slip is confirmed by the physical model and the experiment. In order to model the stick-slip phenomenon between the belt and the pulley, the belt is split into the multiple elements and the fixed constraint is used for representation the stiction. If the tension applied to the belt element is smaller than static friction force, then the fixed constraint is enabled, else it is disabled and calculated under the dynamic friction. The numerical results obtained by the proposed model are compared with the measurement results for validation and that validity is confirmed.</p>
