<p>For the purpose of disaster mitigation and early warning, real-time measurement and distribution systems of earthquake information have been developed in several countries including Japan. We propose a new concept of structural vibration control with the aim of enhancing control performance by using earthquake information before arrival of seismic waves through the seismic observation network. We have been studying under this control framework with the AI-based methodology recently. In this study, from a slightly different viewpoint, we examine if a simpler control strategy is effective or not under the present control framework. The simpler control law tested in the study is a feedforward control law that uses information of the remote earthquake waveform directly after some signal processing. Parameters of the filters for the signal processing are optimized to achieve the good control performance with the recorded earthquake data. A design example with Chuetsu earthquake in 2004 is presented.</p>
