Abstract

Psychological tests are conducted before introducing psychotherapy in clinical psychology, and the Rorschach Test is often included in the test battery. Sometimes the Rorschach Test can evoke invasive images in clients. This study examined a case that evoked such images in the Rorschach Test and psychotherapy that was provided later. Based on the results, the invasiveness and therapeutic functions of the images created by experiencing psychological tests are discussed. In the present case, the invasive image was shared between the client and the tester and became the core of the subsequent psychotherapy process. The experience of undergoing psychological tests exposes client’s emotional scars and result in psychological pain, whereas it might also facilitate the development of the subsequent process of psychotherapy as a result of sharing the scars and pain with the tester.
