Abstract

Agaricus blazei Murrill is cultivated using compost as a medium. We previously demonstrated that some bacteria specifically appear in matured composts with high yields of fruit bodies in the A. blazei Murrill cultivation. In this report, the reproducibility of these results was confirmed in two additional compost batches, which were independently prepared in the summer (Jun-Aug, 2005) and winter (Jan-Mar, 2006), respectively. PCR-DGGE analysis revealed that the bacterial community structures in the matured composts were similar regardless of the preparation bathes. Some bacteria were shown to be commonly present in the matured composts and one was phylogenetically related to the Gram-negative genus Roseomonas.
