Description

This study analyzed how the Jinzu River was sung about in the school songs of all public elementary and junior high schools in the Jinzu River basin flowing through Gifu and Toyama prefectures. Results revealed that lyrics from songs of schools near the Jinzu River include Jinzu or Jinzugawa. Although school songs were related strongly to the area’s historical background, they were also related to the state of river maintenance and river situation. To research and analyze the culture of areas near each river basin, the historical background and river maintenance status were inferred from elementary and junior high school songs there. Results suggest avenues for further study.
