Abstract

<p>APAC Natural Products Drug Discovery Consortium (ANPDC) has been established to promote cross-border open innovation among Thailand, Taiwan and Japan. The three countries make use of natural product in Asia for drug discovery while complying with the Nagoya Protocol of the Convention on Biological Diversity. The ANPDC is characterized by the human resource development of young researchers with a view to sustainable Asian drug discovery and the technical supports from Japanese institutes possessing advanced technologies for drug discovery from natural products. Eisai and Takeda Pharmaceuticals have joined the ANPDC and initiated each effort. This article describes the background, mechanism and characteristics of the ANPDC as well as expectations for natural product drug discovery.</p>
