Description

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) has been studied to improve the sensitivity of the Raman spectroscopic analysis. Silver and gold nanostructures are known to have remarkable SERS effect. Recently, we reported a study on the fabrication of Ag nanocoil (Ag NC) networks. The Ag NCs has shape anisotropy and high conductivity. Therefore, using Ag NC as SERS substrate is expected to enhance Raman scattering due to the surface plasmon resonance. In this study, SERS of rhodamine 6G (R6G) was measured using Ag NC network-based substrate. Ag NC showed enhancing effect of the Raman scattering, and the effect was observed on and near the nanostructure. The peaks of R6G became clearer, as the diameter and pitch of Ag NC became smaller. These results demonstrated that the shape of Ag NC strongly influences the SERS spectra.
