Description

<p>“An institutional repository is an open web-based archive of scholarly material produced by the institution’s members”. It is a so-called web application consisting of a web server and a database as an information system. However, some information technologies are unique to institutional repositories. This paper describes the standardized information technologies related to institutional repositories from metadata distribution, item depositing, and user authentication. It also explains the background, characteristics and issues that led to the introduction of these technologies.</p>
