Abstract

We have developed a model to estimate the life and durability of concrete by numerically analyzing the migration and chemical reaction of ions in concrete. The following three are the basics for this modeling. (1) Use mathematical models as much as possible, (2) Use input parameters as generally obtainable data, and (3) Each model itself has been fully verified. This model can be used for a durability performance verification tool for salt damage of general structures or long-term leaching such as radioactive waste disposal facilities. This paper describes the way of modeling, its applicability to actual structures that have been in service for decades, and difference between this model and the empirical model by Kamali.
