Description

New sotmach tube with esophageal thermosensor was evaluated in six anesthetized dogs. Esophageal temperature measured by this tube was well correlated with blood temperature (r=0.98), and esophageal temperature by conventional thermometer (r=0.98). Suction and lavage of gastic juice was easy, and the recovery rate of saline load was 65%. There was no damage on esophageal mucous membrane by autopsy. These results suggested that this tube was safe and useful as stomach tube and for measuring esophageal temperature.
