Abstract

<p>The odor identification performance has been reported to decline with age. However, with respect to individual odor, there is a study, that the identification performance of unpleasant odor did not decline with age, but that of pleasant odor declined with age. The normative values of OSIT-J (Odor Stick Identification test for the Japanese), whether the value is within the normal range, was also investigated in this paper. Besides, olfactory performances like odor detection, perceived intensity, and discrimination of odor quality were also declined in the aged people, and elderly people are reported to be difficult to notice their decline of olfactory performance.</p>
