説明

In fracture mechanics test of welded joints, a local compression tech-nique has been used in order to get satisfactory fatigue precrack shape. A circular platen with diameter of specimen thickness was normally used, which requires very large capacity of testing machine for heavy section of high strength steel. In this article, the local compression with a rectangular platen of B×B/2 (40×20mm) was studied. Conclusively, 40×20mm platen per-pendicular to the notch line and local compression strain of 0.5 up to 0.7% is recommended.
