Abstract

Steel materials are widely used for ductile frame and passive damping structures. It becomes possible to reuse the damaged member by repairing or replacing it after severe earthquake. We suggest the IoT monitoring system for damage detection. Also, this system uses the heat generation characteristic of steel during inelastic behavior, and the thermoelectric conversion is adopted for sensing and energy harvesting. Herein, the experimental study is performed as parameter with strain rate. From test results, the electric power generation is obtained, and it is proportion to heat temperature.
