Abstract

<p>For vacant land in suburban detached housing sites in Fukui city, this study was conducted to clarify land use characteristics and conditions of landowners. Results suggest the following major findings. 1) Comparison of land use in 2009 and 2019 shows that 60%–70% of vacant land at all investigated residential sites has remained vacant land, with no change in status. 2) Many landowners purchased land for a child’s future residence. However, many landowners now want to sell their property. Most have been unable to do so. 3) Some vacant land possessed by real estate agents is passed from one agent to another because of unsold property or bankruptcy.</p>
