Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine for characteristics of the care that Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses provide for ostomates in the ostomy outpatient clinic．<br> The datas were obtained fron observations of the interactions between six pairs of Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses and ostomates,and analyzed bu qualitative and inductive methods．<br> As a result,three categories that express Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse's care were extracted:“Protecting the stoma,”“Deceloping one's self care ability,” and　“Supplementing ostomate's energy”<br> The characteristics of the Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurse's care for ostomates included the skills to treat stoma that acquired as a body sense,the interactiona that emphasize the ostomate's selfs confidence and self-decision making,and the communications that accompany the interchange of deep affection．
