Abstract
Introducing LNT catalyst into the market requires improvement of NOx storage amount and also catalyst poisoning countermeasures against sulfur contained in fuel. This study developed a high performance LNT catalyst along with two findings. First, since too much Ba causes the sintering of Pt particles, we found out that the LNT catalyst has a balance point of Ba amount corresponding to catalyst specifications. Secondly, an issue caused by the amount of sulfur remained on the LNT catalyst was improved by enhancing Pt density in the upper layer of the coating. As a result, high sulfur-purge performance was achieved.
