Abstract

Over the last several decades of the 20th century, Uzbekistan has seen a serious expansion in agriculture in the development of the wide irrigation network at the expense of the environment. Analysis of the meteorological observations points to the increasing trends in air temperature rise, while IPCC has marked Central Asian region as a region of serious concerns and highest increased temperature rise. Extreme values of air temperature and precipitation, coupled with increasing anthropogenic pressure on natural resources, have dramatically impacted the climate of the whole area of Central Asia in the second half of the twentieth century.
