抄録

The purpose of the study was to clarify the influence on performance and feeling of control of long-distance running for a junior high school gymnastics class. This was achieved by devising a lesson in which the sense of accomplishment could be acknowledged. Students performed running exercises before and after the unit lesson and were asked to complete questionnaires after completing 2000 meter races. The aim was to measure the effects of longdistance running record and assess the scores of students in the subgroup. Results indicate a statistically significant improvement. By addressing long-distance running such courses to suit the students a sense of ability and a sense of control can led to improvements. It is also possible that often hated, “distance running” also can be expected will lead to a lifelong sport.
