The purpose of the present study is to describe the development of mass-social attitudes of adolescents. Longitudinal data of adolescents were collected with conservative, radical, and mass-social attitude scales; each scale had 13 items respectively. The subjects consisted of 70 boys and 70 girls in upper and lower secondary school. They started the school in three different years (in 1972, 1973, and 1974) and graduated 6 years later (in 1977, 1978, and 1979, respectively), but they were conbined into a single group. Each subjects was monitored in 6 successive years at 1-year intervals. Certain components of mass-social attitudes were focused on the purpose of the analyses. Major results obtained are summarized as follows. (1) Feelings of inefficacy in the politic situations and feelings of reliance upon money increased with age. (2) Other directedness is independent of political apathy and, in certain case, coexists with highly organized social attitudes.
