Objectives: Worldwide trends over the past two decades indicate that the prevalence of childhood obesity is increasing. Although intellectual disability peoples were high risk group to obesity, obesity intervention study of intellectual disability(ID)children was not a less, and treatment program needed by intellectual disability level. Therefore, intellectual disability was dived into three levels, to investigate whether obesity among ID children was defined by three levels, and to assess the relationship between obesity and related factor. Study design: Cross sectional study, A self-registering questionnaire was mailed to 412 parents of ID children aged 5-12 years. The performed multiple regression analysis of the factors related to Body Mass Index. Result: Obesity rate among all ID children was higher than that of general children. In severe level boys, on eating behaviors when coping with stress and exercise need to be presented to parents from their children's earliest years. In moderate level girls, good childcare include good eating behavior, eating behaviors when coping with stress was taught their parents from a young age. In mild level children, a healthy life-style based on children's individual characteristics is best if begun in early childhood for girls and before late childhood in boys. Conclusion: The obesity rates of all ID children were higher than general children. Early intervention obesity program will need to all ID children.

子ども達の肥満が増加しているのは,ここ20年来,世界的な傾向である。しかしながら知的障害児を対象に調べた研究はほとんどないようである。そこで知的障害のレベルによって肥満度に違いがあるかどうかについて調べるとともに,肥満に関連する要因について検討した。横断的手法を用いて年齢5-12歳の知的障害を持つ子ども達のご両親を対象に,質問紙法による調査を実施した。377名の子ども達に関するデータを得ることが出来た。知的障害児は,全体として肥満傾向にあることが明らかにされた。また知的障害のレベルによって肥満に関わる要因が異なることが,BMIを基準変数として重回帰分析によって明らかにされた。そして個々の子ども達に応じた,健康的な生活習慣の確立を目指した早期介入が必要であることが明らかにされた。
