太陽の日周運動に関する理解度と文章記述能力について大学生と中学生を対象に調査した。太陽の軌跡に関する図の分析から,大学生において天球という概念が理解できていない者がいること,大学生と中学生の多くが北極点における方位を理解できていないことが分かった。また,太陽の軌跡に関する文章の分析から,記述のために必要な要素が不足しているケースが多いことが明らかとなった。本研究の結果から,大学生,中学生ともに科学的な文章を正確に記述することに対する意識が低いことが明らかとなった。理科授業の中で,科学的な文章を記述させて間違いを訂正させたりする場面を設定するなどして,科学的な文章を正しく記述できるようにすることが求められる。

We examined university and junior high school students' understanding of the Sun's diurnal motion and their writing ability. An analysis of students' illustrations on the Sun's diurnal motion revealed that some university students did not understand the concept of the celestial sphere and that many university and junior high school students did not understand the southward directions at the North Pole. Furthermore, an analysis of students' sentences on the Sun's diurnal motion revealed many insufficient descriptions for the accurate explanation. The results of the analyses suggested that both university and junior high school students had little awareness regarding accurate descriptions in scientific writing. Therefore, we propose that further training needs to be provided to students for scientific writing in science classes.
