Abstract
Stream type fishways are more desirable for various species than classic pool type fish ladder. However, there exist many old type fishways that have been already built into Sabo facilities. They need certain improvement in the structures and discharge control to maintain fish passage conditions. In the former study, the desirable minumum pool length of fishway and critical nap velocity are studied(Kubota et al., 1997). Hence, in this study, fish behaviors with various "discharges" and "step height" comparing with "two innner structure", that is, "step pool type" and "stone fill type(rip rap fill)- torrent bed type", were studied by experiments to extract the versatile information for the improvement of fishways built already. Eventually, the critical condition for the swimming behavior concerning with inner structures was obtained, and it was also found the difference of fish behavior among inner structure types in meaningful in the assessment appropriate structure.
