The purpose of the present paper is to elucidate the characters of H. Lietz and Deutsches Landerziehungsheim rewritten by A. Andreesen in the Nazi Era, which was originally published by H. Lietz. This paper is a case study in consideration of the relationship between Reformpadagogik (new education) and Nazism. The present study is based on mainly dealing with the two materials. The first material is Lebenserinnerungen (memories) by H. Lietz, which were published 1920, 1921, 1922, and 1935. In the present study the following two versions were used: the 1922 version edited by E. Meiβner and the 1935 version edited by A. Andreesen. Through comparison of both versions, the author assessed the characters of H. Lietz and Deutsches Landerziehungsheim modified by A. Andreesen. The second material is correspondences between A. Andreesn and Jutta von Lietz, who was the wife of H. Lietz and objected to revision of Lebenserinnerungen. Through analysis of these correspondences in which they debated on revision of Lebenserinnerungen, the Andreesen's attempt to rewrite the characters of H. Lietz and Deutsches Landerziehungsheim can be manifested. In the present paper, the author discussed the Andreesen's attempt to rewrite Lebenserinnerungen by H. Lietz from the following five points; 1. Lietz was a pioneer of Nazism; 2. Ilsenburg was a model of Reichsarbeitsdienst; 3. Lietz hated Jewish; 4. Lietz objected to coeducation; 5. Lietz regarded G. Wyneken and P. Geheeb as the heretic. Many researchers have stated that educational ideas and practices of Lietz were similar to those of Nazism. In contrast with them, the author considers that H. Lietz himself cannot be connected with Nazism but that he can be connected with Nazism for the first time through the intentional interpretation by A. Andreesen.
