Abstract

Agricultural damage by wild animals in Sasaguri Orchard was investigated, and how to prevent it was studied. The maintenance in/around the orchard and use of equipment for preventing wild animals approaching to the orchard were effective. Hunting controlled the population of wild animals and reduced crop damage. The investigation in the field of Ito Campus showed broken wire fences and dug ground by wild boars. This study revealed that the combination of suitable fences, field maintenance and population management of wild animals were necessary for preventing wild animals damaging the field and the orchard of University Farm in Ito Campus.
