Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the success factors and growth of a local enterprise. As an example, this report highlights the management practices of Kinotoya, which is a local confectionary company based in Sapporo Hokkaido. The analysis starts by dividing the various growth stages of the company and then analyzing them from the aspects of corporate strategy. From its initial growth stage, Kinotoya has faced many obstacles, including a less than ideal location, limited service area, and fierce competition. However, Kinotoya overcame these obstacles in each stage by changing its corporate strategy. The process Kinotoya used during its period of growth was to change its strategic positioning, develop new products, and establish organizational support capabilities. As mentioned above, this study reveals how a local enterprise facing numerous obstacles was able to overcome them and prosper.
