Description

The problem of foreigners living in Japan is that they can not avail of the services from the area where they live because of insufficient necessary information they need. In addition, the information regarding the administration is important in order to improve participation with the administration and community activities. However, 14,087 residents with less than 10 years residence is about 80% of the whole Chiba City residents. At the present condition they can not entirely understand all the Japanese information that Chiba City provides on the home page because of Japanese understanding ability. For the sake of these residents the city made a research based from the present condition of foreign language edition home page of Chiba City and came up with two ideal method to solve this problem. 2 types of homepage were prepared: homepage for Chiba City long term residents(with beginners' Japanese level ability), and for short term residents, whose residence is short(Japanese level ability is insufficient). For long term residents, the Japanese homepage is easy and with rubric. It is necessary for each foreign language to have its own language edition home page which is presently offered for short term residents.
