Abstract

Spectroscopic techniques using circularly polarized light, such as circular dichroism and optical rotatory dispersion, are considered to be useful as a nondestructive analysis method for the chirality of organic molecules in meteorites. In this paper, wereviewourdevelopmentofacirculardichroismmeasurementsysteminthevacuumUV region using a polarizing undulator, as well as its application to chiral organic molecules, such as amino acids. Moreover, various spectroscopic techniques, such as circular dichroism mapping with a micrometer-scale beam, optical rotatory dispersion, and circular intensity differential scattering, were evaluated as potential nondestructive analysis methods.
