The authors summarized the various papers on the inoculation of cast iron, published duriong the last several years. And researched on the effects of the moculants to the tensile strength of the cast iron. The authors used Fe-Ti, Al-Ti, Zn, Cu-Zn, Fe-Zr and Fe-V, etc., for the complex to Ca-Si, and investigated the effectable inoculant's percent to the various carbon contents of the iron. And recognized from the obtained results that it may be possible to get the high tensile strength cast iron that is over 40 kg/㎟m by the inoculation only, and to reach near the value of the ductile cast iron.

接種とは熔湯に金属又は合金化合物などをLadle又は樋などに於て適当な方法によってLate additionすることであって，相当前から行われているがまだ機構の内容も明確にされておらず，実際的にも多くの問題が残されているように考えられる。接種に関する論文も球状黒鉛に関する論文程数多く発表されておらず，纏ったものも少いので，戦後から最近迄のこの方面の文献を一応纏めて一括した項目に分類してみることにした。併せて著者等の所で今迄行った実験の中で数種のInoculantを使用して試料を作製しその機械的性質を調べた結果について報告する。
