Abstract

The authors discuss the life course of Dr. Temple Grandin (b. 1947) and her arts of existence that can tell us the story of her adaptive process and self-empowerment with non-autistic society. After briefing short story from emergence of concept of diagnosis of Autism to founding of Autism Spectrum Disorder(ASD), we narrate that a physician and author, Dr. Oliver Sacks (1933-2015) had visited to her university office and curious encounter story among them. “An Anthropologist on Mars” is the same title of Sacks’ one of best-selling books, also suggests that she called herself. To becoming anthropologist from Mars on Earth signifies her adaptive communicative strategy with non-autistic person and self-realization for coping with modern context of social inclusion. Her arts of existence represent and share with the competence of the ability of imagining the other across our society.
