Description
Rudolph Arnheim (1904-2007) is a prominent Gestalt psychologist who developed unique psychology findings to improve art education, music education, and film education. He is a theoretical reformer of art education which active vigorously in the educational field. His achievements have been referred, studied and criticized under themes on development, media research, and subjects in various contexts on human perception. His Profile as the theoretical reformer for art education is well-known in the United States, but it has not permeated in Japan. In this paper, we will examine Arnheim's achievements including educational reformer. At the same time, I would like to clarify how Arnheim's idea is taken in and influenced by Elliot Wayne Eisner's work.
