This paper follows two papers entitled "Increase of Hotels in Complex Building-Part 1: Building Project Panning, and Part 2: Surge in Foreign-affiliated Super Luxury Hotels in Tokyo" (BULLETIN OF MIYAGI UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF PRODUCT DESIGN No.8 2005), which considered the backgrounds and reasons for the increase of hotels in complex buildings after the collapse of the bubble economy. This trilogy aims to explain the increase of hotels in complex buildings comprehensively. This paper considers architectural characteristics of the hotels in complex buildings, comparing with ordinal hotels. Architectural characteristics to be considered include: sectional layout of hotels in complex buildings, circulation, spatial structure in hotels, and the effective area rate of typical guest room floors.
