キリスト教学校は,50年近く前から世俗化と人的資源不足を課題に抱えてきた.特に,クリスチャン・スカラー(学者)の育成が急務であることや,信仰と学問,福音と文化の問題に対する神学的追求と信仰の訓練がおろそかにされていることが指摘されてきた.このような問題に対して,学校伝道研究会は「教育の神学」を推進している.それは,「学校伝道(campus ministry)」を通して,神学的立場から教育を見直し,キリスト教学校の実践を模索する立場である.同時にキリスト教教育を教育学的立場から考察する試みも重要と考えられる.何故なら,教育現場におけるキリスト者と非キリスト者の協働や,学問上の神学と教育学のつながりが模索されなければならないからである.今日のキリスト教学校の状況を見ると.キリスト教教育を担う者としてキリスト者以外の教員を含めたキリスト教教育のあり方を含めて考える時期にきている.「キリスト教に理解ある者」に対する新たな理論が求められている.

For nearly the past 50 years, Christian schools have been facing the problems of secularization and a lack of human resources. In particular, it has been pointed out that the training of Christian scholars is an urgent issue and that theological pursuit into the problems of faith and scholarship and the gospels and culture, as well as training in faith, have been neglected. To respond to these problems, the Gakko Dendo Kenkyukai ("Campus Ministry Society") has been promoting "theology in education". This approach seeks to rethink education from a theological perspective through campus ministries and explore praxes for Christian schools. At the same time, it holds the attempts to examine Christian education from a pedagogical perspective as likewise important. The reason is that it is necessary to seek out means of cooperation among Christians and non-Christians in educational settings as well as academic connections between theology and pedagogy. When one looks at the state of contemporary Christian schools, as persons responsible for Christian education, it is clear that the time has come to think about modes of Christian education that include non-Christian educators. New arguments are needed concerning persons who show "understanding" with regard to Christianity.
