Description
This study commented on the contributing factors in the development of teaching materials, and the correct application of those materials by putting them into practice, to improve the ability of the discussion to build consensus in middle school Japanese. Furthermore, we speculated the psychological structure, opinions, judgements, etc, of the characters in a play who supported those comments. By doing this, the students perceived both the emotional element and the cognitive element the discussion requested. From the student’s reactions, the effectiveness of using the performance of a ‘discussion play’ as teaching materials became obvious.
