Abstract

This essay is concerned with the limits of multicultural governmentality. It investigates the spaces where this governmentality fails: the spaces where it comes face to face with the `ungovernable'. In particular, the essay examines how this `ungovernable' has become embodied in the figure of the Muslim immigrant in contemporary Australia.
