Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to examine an idea of "Life Field Model" in social work theory and practice, while considering that Japanese culture is "the culture of field." This model thinks as important the look to Japanese life and culture, and the viewpoint and the approach to the "field" where Japanese people can be as the subject of one's action and life. Furthermore, so to speak, this model is "a Japanese style" of social work, which aims at maintenance, construction, and affluence of the "Life Field" supporting a life of Japanese people. In that sense, this study of "Life Field Model" is that of social work which surely has "nationality" of Japan. However, it never emphasizes and persists in only the originality of social work in Japan. This social work model may be effective as an international model of social work theory and practice.
