Abstract

The purpose of this study was to show the status, as of 2013, of classes related to sports for people with disabilities (adapted sports) offered at universities that train physical education teachers for middle school and high school. The main results are as follows. 1) The percentage of departments offering adapted sports classes was 47.9%, while those without such classes was 52.1%. 2) The most common form for these classes was a one-semester elective class with a lecture format, for 2 credits. 3) In a majority of departments the enrollment rate for adapted sports classes offered as elective classes was less than 50%.
