Description
The back to the city movement was occurred in 1990s in the U.S., which gave rise to phenomenon of gentrification. Author focused the actors, gentrifiers, who were generally described as negative character in that they ran low-income residents out of the cities. In this paper however, author examined gentrifiers' social roles using interview data got by seniors who moved into a downtown Chicago. Author concluded that gentrifiers contributed to their urban communities to certain extent as author found that they were very active and participated lots of social activities including contributory activities.
