Regulatory approach and specification of unfair trade practices in Uzbekistan : comparison with Japanese law

Regulations of unfair Trade practices(UTP) in Uzbekistan have a fragmented feature. "Law on Competition" and "Rules of Retail Merchandizing in the Republic of Uzbekistan" contain different provisions on unfair Trade practices. The former categorizes UTP as unfair competition while the latter as illegal trade. Moreover, UTP are not clearly distinguished from other categories in Law on Competition. The regulatory approach of UTP in Uzbekistan lacks a clear legal framework and enforcement mechanisim. This article aims to provide structural suggestions to improve the regulatory and enforcement system in Uzbekistan in order to effectively deal with the issue of UTP.
