Description
The purpose of this study is to investigate effects of the introducing “Physical Assessment training DS software” on student learning and motivation. After dividing 28 second-year nursing students into a DS group and a non-DS group, and assigning self-learning tasks to each group, the learning and motivation in both groups were measured. We evaluated the motivation to learn using the ARCS motivation model. In terms of material learned, we did not see any significant difference between the two groups, and no significant effect of the use of DS software on learning was seen. When student motivation was measured, however, the DS group was significantly more motivated, and the DS software was an effective material for prompting curiosity and improving perception in students. The DS software could be recommended as a tool for assisting with self-education.
