Description
This study examines the significance and issues of the multi-national enterprises' replication model proposed by Jonsson & Foss (2011). We first review Winter & Szulanski (2001), who developed a two-stage model, as the proponent of the replication strategy. We then review Jonsson & Foss (2011), who proposed a replication model with three stages by adding the flexible replication stage of creating a new business format to adapt to the foreign market. Their replication model was developed from a case study of IKEA's internationalization with a hierarchical approach mixing fixed and variable features of the business format for the global operation.
